About me

My name is Becky Cooper and I am an Ofsted registered Childminder with 23 yrs experience in childcare. I am based in Market Harborough, Leicestershire and offer reliable and professional home based childcare. I am located within walking distance of Meadowdale Primary School. I offer care to children from birth to 12yrs.

I became a childminder in Sept 2007 after working as a live in and live out nanny in London and Leicestershire and after having my own two children who are now 18yrs and 15yrs. I have worked with some fantastic families over the years, many of which I still keep in touch with.

I live with my husband and two children in a detached house in a quiet cul-de-sac with nice size secure garden. I have a playroom with lots of toys and activities and we are kept busy throughout the week with toddler groups, crafts, park visits and so much more.

My aim as a childminder is to give the best possible care for your child, where they can feel safe and happy and for you to be re-assured that your child is in a fun and safe, loving, home-like environment. Because I work to EYFS guidelines you can also be reassured that your child is developing to their full potential as activities are worked around your child depending on age and ability. Children receive individual attention as ratios are 1:3 under 5yrs.

I am very reliable and have lots of references from parents that I work with and have worked with in the past.

My Background and Qualifications

I studied at High Peak College in Buxton for 3yrs where I received my NNEB in 1994 and also a BTEC diploma in Caring in 1992. I completed an introduction to Childminding course in Sept 2007 and I also have the following certificates:

  • Paediatric First Aid
  • Food Hygiene
  • Child Protection Awareness (NSPCC)

Both myself and my husband are CRB checked and my son has recently been DBS checked. I am fully insured by Morton Michel.

I am inspected by Ofsted and my last grading was October 2015 for which I received another ‘Good’

Vacancies are shown at the top of the page but these can change due to school leavers and I do operate a waiting list if I am full.

Benefits of using a Childminder

  • Mixed age groups, which mirrors family life, helping your child feel comfortable around older and younger children.
  • Strong friendships can be made between the children.
  • Small numbers of children means more individual attention so children's individual needs can be met.
  • Children can stay with the same carer throughout their childhood as childminders pick up from local schools and nurseries.
  • Home like environment means children enjoy real life experiences.
  • Cooking, gardening, shopping, mealtimes, outings, parks, library visits including and in addition to EYFS activities.
  • Like myself, a lot of childminders are parents themselves so have experience of parenting.
  • Personal care and more free play. Children are able to choose toys and if an unplanned event happens like a snowy day we can adapt our plans.
  • Parental support and advice is always available, strong bonds between childminder and parents are formed.
  • Your child is part of the community, trips to toddler groups and parks to experience the wider world outside the home.
