About me

My name is Becky Cooper and I am an Ofsted registered Childminder with 17yrs experience in childcare. I am based in Market Harborough, Leicestershire and offer reliable and professional home based childcare.

I became a childminder in Sept 2007 after working as a live in and live out nanny in London and Leicestershire and after having my own two children who are now 12yrs and 9yrs. I have worked with some fantastic families over the years, many of which I still keep in touch with.

I live with my husband and two children in a detached house in a quiet cul-de-sac with nice size secure garden. My aim as a childminder is to give the best possible care for your child regardless of race, religion or culture and for you to be re-assured that your child is in a fun and safe loving, home-like environment.

I am very reliable and have lots of references from parents that I work with and have worked with in the past. Please see my guestbook for comments.

My Background and Qualifications

I studied at High Peak College in Buxton for 3yrs where I received my NNEB in 1994 and also a BTEC diploma in Caring. I completed an introduction to Childminding course in Sept 2007 and I also have the following certificates:

  • Paediatric First Aid
  • Food Hygiene
  • Child protection awareness (NSPCC)

Both myself and my husband are CRB checked. My husband coaches children at a local football club. I am fully insured.

I am inspected by Ofsted every 3yrs and my last grading was Aug 2008 for which I received a ‘Good’

My Ofsted Report can be read here

Benefits of using a Childminder

  • Mixed age groups, which mirrors family life, helping your child feel comfortable around older and younger children.
  • Strong friendships can be made between the children.
  • Small numbers of children means more individual attention so children's individual needs can be met.
  • Children can stay with the same carer throughout their childhood as childminders pick up from local schools and nurseries.
  • Home like environment means children enjoy real life experiences.
  • Cooking, gardening, shopping, mealtimes, outings, parks, library visits including and in addition to EYFS activities.
  • Like myself, a lot of childminders are parents themselves so have experience of parenting.
  • Personal care and more free play. Children are able to choose toys and if an unplanned event happens like a snowy day we can adapt our plans.
  • Parental support and advice is always available, strong bonds between childminder and parents are formed.
  • Your child is part of the community, trips to toddler groups and parks to experience the wider world outside the home.
